VIVA Scientific Committee
VIVA Scientific Committee is the technical and consultative body of VIVA programme, it avails itself of research officers managing and carrying out the programme.
VIVA Scientific Committee is made up of experts on sustainability, selected according to scientific excellence standards and operational competence, verifiable through a qualified scientific production certified by internationally recognized indicators (ISI). The members don’t occupy the position indefinitely, they stay in office until they carry out research activities and take active participation in the programme. It assures turnover, the involvement of interdisciplinary scientific community, solutions to needs, innovation and a cultural and scientific interchange. Being part of scientific disciplinary societies and associations is not an elective qualification to become a member of VIVA Scientific Committee. Each member is required not to have personal economic conflicts of interest. The scientific coordination is carried out through interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research centers. AGROINNOVA (Università degli Studi di Torino research center) and OPERA (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Piacenza research center) have coordinated the programme from 2012 to 2015, from 2016 until 2019 scientific coordination is conducted by OPERA research center.
VIVA Scientific Committee activities
VIVA Scientific Committee carries out the following activities:
Research projects complementary to the functionality of VIVA programme;
Vocational and educational training programmes (workshops, training courses);
Public and private sectors partnerships for research programmes (PSR.LIFE, Horizon2020 and others);
Updating of VIVA guidelines and technical specifications according to the latest national and international researches on sustainable development;
Updating of VIVA softwares;
Conventions, workshops, seminars, e-learning activities;
Networking with other agronomy and wine sector working groups;
Stakeholders participation (consumers, producers, distributors, public administrators);
Realization of guidelines, communication and information programmes.
VIVA Scientific Committee members
VIVA Scientific Committee is made up of coordinators, stable and associate members. Stable members remain in office 4 years, associate members remain in office depending on the activities they perform and projects they conduct.
Coordinators:
Ettore Capri, PhD – Professor of Agricultural Chemistry, environmental and food risk assessment expert;
Lucrezia Lamastra, PhD – Researcher and Chemistry teacher, expert on sustainability indicators and agricultural production life cycle analysis (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore);
Fiamma Valentino, PhD – Expert on sustainability in agri-food supply chain sector (Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition - AT Sogesid).
Stable members:
Marco Trevisan – Professor of Agricultural Chemistry (Agricultural Food and Environmental Sciences Faculty, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore). He has dealt with the effects and persistence of phytosanitary products in food and environment for 35 years and he is author of more than 350 scientific papers;
Luigi Bavaresco – Viticulture Professor (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore). Viticulture expert, author of more than 167 scientific papers about mineral nutrition, plants natural defense mechanisms, taxonomic use of DNA analysis, cultivation techniques, ecological viticulture;
Daniele Fornari – Marketing and Economics Professor (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore). In 2000 he have founded the “Trade Marketing Laboratory”, joined by leading companies of mass market, he has carried out many research and training activities about agricultural chain economy, trade marketing and business management and commercial strategy. He is author of more than 50 scientific papers;
Milena Lambri - Researcher in Food Science and Technology, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. She is responsible for research projects concerning the role of oenological adjuvants in relation to both the protein and colloidal matrix. Not only, but also the study of secondary effects on the aromatic fraction and on the sensory profile of white and red wines. She is responsible for researches regarding technologies applied in white winemaking in compliance with the requirements of territorial typicity and new market expectations;
Ludovica Gullino – Plant Pathology Professor (Università di Torino). Sustainable agriculture expert, she published many papers about sustainable production defenses, food and cultivations biosecurity, climate change and its effects on agriculture, food safety and plants pathologies. She is author of more than 800 scientific contributions;
Luigi Moio – Oenology Professor (Università di Napoli). President of the degree Course in Oenology and Viticulture at Università di Napoli. He is author of more than 250 scientific papers about food chemistry and technology. His studies helped towards the enhancement and rediscovery of many indigenoussouthern Italian grape varieties.
Mario Pezzotti – Full Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at the University of Verona, he is delegated to scientific research, technical and scientific profiles related to technologic transfer at the same University. International expert on genetics in the viticultural and oenological sectors.

Daniele D’Ammaro – Postdoctoral Researcher (Food Science and Technology Department for a sustainable agri-food system, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore). VIVA VINEYARD Indicator reporting member;
Maria Zucchinelli – PhD Candidate (Agrisystem PhD School). VIVA WATER Indicator reporting member;
Andrea Di Guardo – PhD (Università degli Studi Milano Bicocca, Milano). Informatica Ambientale director, web applications provider.
How does VIVA Scientific Committee assure the quality of its activities and results?
VIVA Scientific Committee members make use of communication platforms and participatory tools to talk, discuss and decide the activities needed to update the programme, in order to guarantee an efficient management and a constant structural and functional improvement.
